House-sitting and May Photo Challenge

8 May

For those who have not yet heard, I’m trying to take on a photo challenge, where I photograph my interpretation of a different theme every day throughout the month. I am uploading my pictures to my Flickr account. Unfortunately, my days are not yet free enough to keep up with the schedule, but that doesn’t bother me. I’ll get better.

Also, in case anyone has been living under a rock, Matthew and I will be house-sitting for some friends of ours (and their dog) for the next three weeks. I may not get the time to keep blog posts updated, but I intend to take lots of pictures. Please keep checking back, as I will post when possible, and almost certainly upload photos.

Best,
Journelise

Squirrel

Squirrel

Well, world, I did not post a picture to Flickr yesterday because (of all things) I took a nap. When I woke up, I was so disoriented, I couldn’t remember everything I needed to get done. What’s worse, I spent the rest of the afternoon/evening trying to remember to no avail. That said, today’s post is a little scattered, but rest assured that I will post more pictures. Also, we begin our three-week house-sitting job tomorrow, so the total posts for May will be uninteresting in words, but hopefully fascinating in photos. For example: the picture above was one I took of a college student and a squirrel while walking through campus. I can’t believe the squirrel came that close to her, but he did.

Marriage Monday: Rain

Rain

Today’s is a short post for two reasons:

1) I woke up late today and am tired

2) It’s raining.

I should also note that Matthew and I will be house-sitting for friends of ours starting this Wednesday. We will be primarily staying at their place, and it will be near impossible to post daily, as we will house-sit for three weeks. That said, I will try to schedule as much as I can ahead of time, and will make sure to update my Flickr account.

Think about rain today. Everything in moderation is good; rain will help the plants grow when there is just enough, but will kill them if there is too much. We need to spend time with our spouse/significant other but not too much time. We need to be understanding with others, but not a doormat. We need to stand up for ourselves, but not start an argument every single time. Think about rain. It can be refreshing. We should learn to encourage others like rain.

Opinion Friday: Resignation

3 May

Sometimes, it’s unclear why events happen “out of the blue.” Other times, the cause and effect is painfully obvious. This country, more than any I’ve visited, is the greatest combination of Orwellian control, but Huxley-like apathy. (more…)

How to Improve

2 May

As some know, I have an awesome camera from this last Christmas, that I am still getting used to. My Flickr account stays updated, but I would really like to improve. (more…)
